But what stands out for us here at Vivid Racing is the wheel choice. The customer has gone with our VR Forged D03 1pc forged monoblock wheel setup. The wheels are a 20×9.0 in the front and a 21×12 in the rear. To get this awesome fitment, the front runs a 32mm offset and the rear is a 35mm. This puts the wheels nice and flush with the fenders. Because they are 1pc forged, the wheels are extremely lightweight and strong. The fronts are 11.5kg and the rears are 13.5kg. Designed specifically for the Audi R8 and Huracan chassis, these wheels have the proper load rating and can handle the power this twin turbo kit puts out to the ground.

The 2018 Aston Martin Vantage V8 is one of the most stunning coupes to come out of the British sports car manufacture. Featuring the beast of an engine from Mercedes, the 4.0L V8 twin turbo powerplant sits far back providing a beautifully balanced machine at just over 500 horsepower. Inspired by the track only Vulcan, the lines and styling of the Aston are pretty unique. Like many sports cars, they just don’t hit the mark on really bringing out the look with the factory wheels. Original a grayish color, this Vantage was wrapped in a dandelion yellow by the owner which had the black wheels just getting lost. As a super fan of the color yellow and previously having VR Forged on our last car, a BMW M3 F80, she wanted to continue this theme on the Aston. To produce a custom set of wheels for the Aston Martin Vantage V8, we wanted to nail the specs so these wheels sat functionally aggressive on the car.
These VR Forged wheels are a 2 piece design of our popular D03-R. The centers are a brushed and clear finish that are then mated to a full custom machine barrel. The wheels were designed to retain the factory tire specs of the OEM 20 inch wheels. The front wheels are a 20×9.5 +32mm which clear the OEM big brakes perfectly. The rear wheel is a 20×11.5 +44mm which sits perfect on the wide rear fender hips. Combined with its lowered stance and upgraded exhausts, this is the perfect combo of aftermarket wheels for the Aston Martin Vantage V8!
The Corvette C8 Z06 is pretty much a supercar killer on the street and definitely the track. If you ignore the dealer markup, what you are getting for about $150,000 is a car that will rival the GT3 on the track. This isn’t just a statement but a fact from a close friend who has both. He will track the Z06 all day long over the GT3. And why wouldn’t you with that flat plane crank engine sounding like a Ferrari 458 GT3 Cup Car! When it comes to horsepower, adding mods like an exhaust system or even an intake like we did on our Z06 C8 is one thing to do. But if you want to see some improvements, just reduce that rotational weight! Rotational weight is a killer that most enthusiasts do not realize. You can put your big bling bling Forgiatos or 3 piece ADV1 super concave wheels on the car to look cool. However if these things weigh more than the already heavy stock wheels, then you are making that engine work harder to move those wheels round and round.
Rotational weight savings is like a factor of 3. For every 1 lb of dead weight you save is really like 3 lbs when it comes to rotational weight. Inertia is a crazy thing! The factory C8 Z06 wheels in 20 and 21 inch weight about 29.1 lbs for the front and 34.6 lbs for the rear. That is not super bad considering the size of these steam rollers. But if you want to pick up that acceleration and do it in style, then you need to check out our latest VR Forged DX1 wheels for the Corvette C8 Z06. Our front wheels weigh 26.3 lbs and rear weight 29.7 lbs. This means you are really saving nearly 9 lbs per corner in the front and 15 lbs per corner in the rear of rotational weight! Besides the weight savings, the VR Forged DX1 wheel is a fully custom 1pc forged monoblock wheel. With forgings form from a 10,000 ton press to provide the highest quality material, each wheel is then machined to standards that OEMs trust from this factory. In typical wheel fashion, the offsets are more aggressive to give the vehicles stance a better look with the wheels sitting near the fender edge. The front wheels are a +25mm and the rears a +20mm. With a 20×10 front and 21×13 rear, factory tires can be reused. The wheels feature a unique centerlock cap that hides the 5×120.65 lugs to give it that proper race car look. This particular set is finished in Matte Black and features engravings along the outside to signify FORGED and JWL with VIA certifications.
